Chapter 1

It was nighttime in the town called Ponyville in the land of Equestria, and in a small toy shop, a little yellow filly with no cutie mark yet named Apple Bloom, and her father Shining Armor the unicorn was celebrating her birthday, "Ya know Daddy, this is mah very best birthday!" Apple Bloom said with a smile as she played with a small rocking horse. "Ahh... but I haven't given you your birthday present yet." Shining Armor said. "What is it?! What is it?!" Apple Bloom said in an excited tone. "Now. Now. Close your eyes." Her father said as she covered her eyes with her hooves. He moved to a cupboard as Apple Bloom tries to sneak a peek by lower her hooves by a few inches, but her father caught her as he said "Uh-Uh. No peeking." Apple Bloom giggled as she covered her eyes. Shining Armor then returned to the table, holding onto a toy that resembles a flower bud with his magic, winds the key, and sets it on the table in front of his daughter. As a gentle tune plays, Apple Bloom opens her eyes and sees that the bud turned into a pony ballerina, who dances for her.

Apple Bloom gasped and said "Oh, daddy! Ya'll made this just for me?" "Indeed I did, Apple Bloom." Shining Armor said with a smile. Little did they know, that outside slowly approaching the toy shop was a little green & purple dragon with green eyes who cackles evilly as his shadow loomed over the door to the toy shop. Meanwhile inside as the doll finished her dance, Apple Bloom got down from her chair to hug her father. "Ya'll the most wonderful father in all...in all of Equestria!" Apple Bloom said as Shining Armor smiled and hugged back. Their tender moment was suddenly interrupted by the lock door rattling. Apple Bloom and her father looked toward the door as the rattling on the door grew more intense.

"Who is that?" Apple Bloom asked feeling worried. "I-I don't know!" Shining Armor said as he placed his daughter in the cupboard. "Quickly, dear, stay in there and don't come out!" He stood in front of the cupboard as Spike the dragon with a scar on his left leg busted through the window. From her hiding place, Apple Bloom cracked the door open slightly and watched in terror as her father and Spike struggled. The table flew toward the cupboard, shutting the door and pushing Apple Bloom back. "Now I gotcha, toy maker!" Spike said as he cackled evilly. "Oh! Apple Bloom!" Shining Armor cried out as he was dragged away. Apple Bloom then managed to push against the door and moved the table to see that the lights in the toy shop went out, furniture scattered, and empty paint buckets spilling out. She went to the open window to look outside. "Daddy, where are ya'll?!" Apple Bloom called out feeling scared. "Daddy...where are ya'll?! Daddy! Daddy!" There was no answer, so she decided to find the famous pony detective named Bubble Berry of Ponyville.
